  • FAQ's for Baldur's Gate 1
    • Dan Simpson, "Baldur's Gate & The Tales of the Sword Coast FAQ/Walkthrough" (vs. 3.1) - IMHO, THE definitive FAQ for bg1, a very detailed well laid-out full area walkthrough with tips from other contributors, lists of shoppes, tips on character creation, monster strategy, strange things and on and on. A reference must-have. Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • Dan Simpson, "Baldur's Gate NPC Listing" (vs. 1.23) - stats, background, and ratings for all the recruitable NPCs inthe game. Another reference must-have. Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • Duncan Clay, "Baldur's Gate - Area Guide" (rev. 1.01.11.28) - fabulous area guide in highly condensed format -- believe it, he lists every house -- he also has sections on character creation and experience, recruitable NPCs, lists and ratings of shoppes, cheats and a full item code list. For those who like to terminate everybody in the game, he includes "kill" values for most npcs. Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • Duncan Clay, “Tales of the Sword Coast - Area Guide” (vs. 1.03.11.01)) - Same as he did for bg1, but for ToSC. Excellent! Available from: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index.php
    • Keven Kao (chocomog), "Baldur's Gate Books". - Keven says it best, "Hey everyone, remember all those books in the game that you probably threw away because they took up precious inventory space, and you didn't have time to read them? Well I've written an FAQ that has every single book in the game in it." Take him at his word, he has the full text for every book. An excellent reference tool: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • Yuri Bushin, “Librarius Ex Balduran 2” (vs. 2.16.05.99). - Chart-style information about items, npcs, and characters for Baldur’s Gate and ToSC. Includes where to find items and npcs (map area code and x,y coordinates). Works in Microsoft Word or Excel. He says it took him 300 hours to do. I believe him. Amazing! A must-have reference tool. Available from: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_tips.php
    • : ) Andrew Lee (Dixxo), "Baldur's Gate Guide" (vs.1.0) - walkthrough by area with quest details/rewards and places of interest, also has full list of item console codes. Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • : ) Andrew Lee (Dixxo), “Tales of the Sword Coast Guide” (vs. 1.1) - Concise walkthrough for Tales of the Sword Coast. Available from: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index.php
    • : ) Baronius, "The Great Book of Baldur's Gate and ToSC" (vs. 1.3.0.) - Has tips and hints for spells, etc., but the best thing is the appendix of all the area codes for bg1/ToSC with a little description. Get it here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_tips.php.
    • : ) Dan Simpson, "Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast Creature List" (vs. 2.1) -- "a list of all the 'Creatures' available in the game of Baldur's Gate, as well as Tales of the Sword Coast. Every NPC or monster in the game is represented here as a 'creature.' This is not a comprehensive monster list that lists every stat for every monster (though it might become that at a later time...). This is a list of the 'creature code' used when using the CLUA Console cheat to spawn a new monster." Handy for increasing experience in the game: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • : ) Elroy Ng, “Tales of the Sword Coast Walkthrough and FAQ” (vs. 0.9)- Walkthrough with combat strategy for ToSC areas. Helpful. Available from: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index.php
    • : ) Sean Burns (Lugnutz), "Baldur's Gate 1.0" - A narrative-style area walkthrough of bg1 and ToSC. Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • : ) Sorcerers Place, "Baldur's Gate Encyclopaedia" - Info in encyclopaedia format on npcs, items, weapons, equipment, places, etc. Get it here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/info.php.htm
    • : ) Steven W. Carter, "Baldur's Gate Plus Tales of the Sword Coast Walkthrough" - another narrative-style area walkthrough of bg1 and ToSC. Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • : ) Tazar, "Baldur's Gate Character Creation Guide" (vs. 1.1) - A step-by-step jaunt through the character creation process with charts of stats to help you choose your lead character. Informative and easy to read. Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • : ( Brian C. Jenkins, "Baldur's Gate Walkthrough" (vs. 1.0) - 27 KB just about says it all -- the "shortest path possible through the game". Why on earth you'd want to do this when you just paid 80 bucks for it is beyond me, but then I'm a very ancient dragon and don't understand these young people nowadays. This is here for those of you who enjoy a race to the finish line.... :( Get it here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/

  • PATCHES for Baldur's Gate 1

  • TRAINERS for Baldur's Gate 1 -- the following are all available at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_editors.php
    • Gatekeeper (vs. 109) - a savegame editor. Use it to get the best equipment going, change your stats and abilities, etc. VAD's favourite. I use it primarily for "lowering" my reputation, as I like playing a mixed alignment party. Makes for interesting party backchat (Keep that rodent away from me, ranger!). When the chaotic evils start complaining, I use Gatekeeper to drop my reputation back to 16. When Gatekeeper does it the goods and neutrals don't complain about the loss of reputation. Also can be found at http://www.mud-master.com/gatekeeper/
    • : ) Daephon, No Wear Limitations Mod - Here's how it's billed, "This little file will allow you to wear magical armor, cloaks, necklaces, and rings at the same time." Oh good! BTW, you can also do this with Gatekeeper, just put the stuff on them and it will stay there. Just don't take it off in the game.
    • : ) miraMax, Baldur's Gate Trainer +11 - you run this during character generation. It uses the Function keys (F1-F12) to maximize stats, proficiencies, spells, money, abilities, HPs, etc. During the game you can use it to heal your characters.

Dark Side of the Sword Coast (bg1 DoSc)
