  • The Bard's Tale is an old DOS rpg trilogy (some of the first rpgs I played). Don't let the simplistic old graphics fool you -- these games are challenging, tough, and worth playing. For these games, it is a good idea to visit the fan sites as they have most of the stuff you will want or need.

    • The Adventurer's Guild - Ultimate Bard's Tale Resource. Excellent site. Covers all three games. Has the games (and patches) in various platforms (DOS, Atari, Amiga, etc.), game manual and docs, game map and dungeon maps, character editors and hacks.
    • The Bard's Tale Compendium. Excellent site. Covers all three games. Has .jpg maps of dungeons, areas, game manuals, lists of spells, etc. Warning: sometimes down for exceeding data allocation transfer.     • The Bard's Tale Online. Excellent site. Has a wealth of data for all three games. You can download the games in various platforms (DOS, Mac, Amiga, Atari, Apple II, etc). Also has game manuals and documentation, command cards, items, monster, and spell lists, level maps of dungeons and towns, hack programs and editors, game music, etc. etc. etc...
    • : ) Bard Song. You can get the music for all three games here (midi files).
    • : ) The Bard's Tale. Useful site for spells, items, monster lists, mostly for bt1 (some bt2 and bt3).
    • : ) The Bard's Tale. Covers all 3 games. Has the games, maps, hints, etc.

    • : ( J.o.a.T.'s Bard's Tale Trilogy Section. You have to solve his annoying little puzzle to visit his site, "To procede, invoke the MALE spell found on this page". Grrrrrr....

 

The Bard's Tale 1: Tales of the Unknown (bt1)

    • Jonathan G. Lampe Website - Tales of the Unknown (Apple 2). Excellent Site. Has instructions for running bt1 on Apple II. Has Apple II game manual and documentation, spells and equipment lists and nice big maps of Skara Brae and the dungeons.
    • Welcome to the Bard's Tale: Tales of the Unknown Shrine. Excellent Site. Has items, weapons, armor, spells, songs, and monster lists, cheats, character info, dungeons with keyed maps, a nice keyed map of Skara Brae with shoppe descriptions and inventory, and a walkthrough. Also has a discussion of other versions of the game (Apple II, NES, etc.).
    • : ) Bard's Tale. OK site. Fan site for the NES version of bt1. Has an FAQ, Hints & Tips, Story, and screenshots.
    • : ) Bard's Tale Help. Good site. Cheats tips and hints for The Bards Tale 1.
