The Very Ancient Dragon's Magic Candle Compendium

THE MAGIC CANDLE (mc)

  • BOOKMARKS for The Magic Candle
  • Magic Candle is an old DOS rpg trilogy (some of the first rpgs I played). Don't let the simplistic old graphics fool you -- these games are challenging, tough, and worth playing.

    • Jason Spangler's Website. The definitive website for the Magic Candle trilogy -- you can get all three games here if you don't have them, as well as walkthroughs, maps, cheats, editors and hacks. He also has the disk versions of two MC spinoffs - Bloodstone and Keys to Maramon (I just finished both, enjoyed them). A really excellent and comprehensive site.

Magic Candle 1 (mc1)

  • FAQ's for Magic Candle 1
    • Andrew Schultz, "Magic Candle FAQ (with walkthrough and everything)" (vs.1.0.0). Remember this guy's name, people, and grab anything you find on the net that he did. This has the complete script from mc1, items, monsters, and the most combat detailed strategy I have ever seen. Everything you need and then some. Excellent work. Get it at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/.
    • : ) Jean Wyvern Harlan-Marriott (Wyvern), "Notes for the Magic Candle". A nice condensed version of what topics the NPCs discuss in the game. Arranged by place and npc. Very handy. Get it at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/
    • : ) Stephen S. Lee, "Magic Candle I. Miscellaneous Facts and Spoilers." (vs. 1.0). A very useful collection of coordinates, important people to talk to, hireable characters, town summaries, etc. Very handy. Get it at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/

  • LEVEL MAPS for Magic Candle 1
    • Screen capture maps of the dungeons, etc. were once available here: http://home.earthlink.net/%7Eschultza/mc/mc.htm. At present, however, this site appears to be non-functional. You can find ASCII maps of dungeon levels in Andrew Schultz's MC1 FAQ.

Magic Candle 2: The Four and Forty (mc2)

  • FAQ's for Magic Candle 2
    • Andrew Schultz, "Magic Candle Magic Candle II (PC) FAQ" (vs.1.0.0). This comprehensive FAQ has the complete npcs conversation script from mc2, items, spells, mushroom, stronghold locations and monsters lists, ascii maps and detailed descriptions of towns and dungeons. To top it off, the FAQ has the most detailed combat strategy I have ever seen. He even tells you how to get around chutes and portals. Everything you need and then some. Excellent work. Get it at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/.
    • : ) Lee Beng Hai (Volume), "Magic Candle II: The Four and Forty. FAQ/Walkthrough for PC DOS/Windows. vs.1.3". General Hints on making money, using the map, potions and plants (properties and locations), skills, magic (spell list and where you can buy spell books), weapons (statistics), armor (recommendations), special items (locations), companions (who will join your party and where to find them), the gods (location of temple and sleeping place, attributes increased), towns and towers (locations), libraries (research topics), music (instruments, songs and where to learn them), strongholds (locations), teleportation (locations and codes), gates (words of power), combat techniques (survival strategy) and barbarian camps (locations). All this plus a walkthrough. Handy. Get it at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/

Magic Candle 3 (mc3)

  • FAQ's for Magic Candle 3
    • Andrew Schultz, "Magic Candle III (PC) FAQ" (vs.0.9.0). Same kind of thing he did for mc1 and mc2. Everything you need and then some. Excellent work. Get it at: http://www.gamefaqs.com/.
